A taste of home
I’m not going to lie, I have always been a little bit sceptical about baking mixes… As an avid home baker the thought of using a cake mix to cut down on my precious baking time doesn’t sit well with me. Baking is one of the few activities that really helps me unwind after a long day, I treasure those 30 or so minutes that I spend measuring out the ingredients and mixing the gooey batter together. However, one Irish company has converted me to a fan of baking mixes… Boutique Bake offers easy to use and really delicious baking mixes in some seriously cute packaging. Their range includes; lemon drizzle, chocolate brownies, flapjacks and carrot cake, to name just a few (see a snap of my collection below). What I love about these mixes is they really are idiot proof and you only need 2 or 3 additional ingredients to start baking. These extra ingredients are usually items that you already have at home so no trekking to the shops is required.
Living in Madrid means I have plenty of choice when it comes to cuisines but every now and then I do miss food from home. Brown bread is a personal favourite of mine and I just can’t seem to find a good brown bread loaf in Madrid (please shout if you have any recommendations!) As a result, the Boutique Bake Rustic Brown Bread mix is one of my favourite baking finds. The brown bread is SO delicious and coupled with a cup of tea (Barry’s tea in my case) I am transported back to my sitting room in Dublin. That taste of home is needed every now and then.
The instructions on the packaging for this divine brown bread are super simple and in less than 10 minutes you have your brown bread baking in the oven.
The work out (very minor but hey every mix counts to work those arm muscles):
Okay so it doesn’t look that pretty in the mixing bowl but I promise you it is going to taste divine
All ready to go in the oven
I came back to Madrid with six Boutique Bake Rustic Brown Bread mixes in my suitcase with more to follow when my family come to visit. I also have a variety of the cake mixes sitting pretty on my kitchen shelf so I’ll be sure to post about them as soon as I make them.
Let me know what your favourite cake mixes are I would love to hear from you
