Calle Mayor 15, 28801
Alcalá de Henares holds a special place in my heart. It is the city where I discovered my love for Madrid, where I taught my first English class and where I met, a now very special and dear, friend of mine.
I tend to head out to Alcalá at least once a month to escape the madness of Madrid and to relax for a couple of days with friends. On a recent visit here my friend brought me to La Rollerie, a gorgeous and very modern new café situated on Calle Mayor. The café is stunning and their outside terrace is simply splendid. The vibe outside is so chilled, with flowers as table centre pieces and a beautiful fountain towards the back of the terrace you can’t help but instantly relax and unwind here.
My friend knows me well, and chose the perfect spot for us to have a catch up and girly gossip over a much needed cup of coffee. I opted for a café manchando to get my morning caffeine fix and one of the café’s specialities; “Roll”, a cinnamon roll covered in a delicious custard cream, to satisfy my sweet tooth. One word: divine! Another visit to La Rollerie is on the cards for my next trip to Alcalá and I would highly recommend you stop off here to rest your feet if you are exploring the city.
Kim’s tip – take a seat on the terrace, sit back and relax.
